Fishing in Fort St. John

Charlie Lake

Approximately 8-13km/5-8mi north of Fort St. John, has facilities that allow for convenient family fishing not too far from town. Charlie Lake is also one of the few natural lakes in British Columbia where you can keep the walleye you catch. During the winter Charlie Lake has springs that create wet areas below thin ice, allowing for ice fishing with the right precautions.

Inga Lake

75km/121mi north of Fort St. John, Inga Lake is stocked annually with rainbow trout, and is the home to brook trout. Inga Lake has a boat launch and parking, but take note that motorized boats are restricted to 7.5Kw/10hp maximum.

Peace River

Despite being the largest river near Fort St. John, Peace River is calm enough to be fished from boat or shore. Many tributaries feed into the Peace River, including the Pine, Halfway and Moberly Rivers.
Fish: Arctic Grayling, Walleye, Bull Trout, Rainbow Trout, Northern Pike, Mountain Whitefish, Kokanee & Burbot
